free. The Strand offers visitors to Townsville a free playground
which include a water park, playground, swings, slides, safe
supervised swimming area, fishing areas, free to use gas barbeque's
and much more. Or take a short drive down to Townsville's
common and you will see Australian native animals and plants
in there natural surroundings.

should be aware that during the summer months, October to
mid April, marine stingers are prevalent in the waters.
The one place that is safe and can enjoy saltwater swimming
all year round is on the Strand in Townsville's Rockpool
and stinger nets.
There is also two stinger
enclosures on the strand, one right beside the Rockpool
and both the Rockpool and stinger nets are supported by
Queensland's Professional Life guards |
